The Metaphor’s group was started in August of 2004 with seven members. Seven years later we are still going strong. On this page I will share the homework assignments from our group. Please feel free to share ideas you’ve been doing in your writing groups.
- Write a query letter for your story idea or finished manuscript that you hope to send out.
- Write about a character’s loss.
- Incorporate a legend or myth that is known into a short story and make it new.
- Create a were-type story for Halloween.
- Write about the same scene from two different perspectives.
- Write about a battle or fight. It can be any sort of battle, whether it be physical, one of words, etc.
- Write about a character receiving a “calling” of sorts. Do they accept or reject it?
- Research something that you’ve wanted to know more about to insert into a story you are working on.
- Work on projects you want to start or finish. Do an outline or character sketch or actual pages within a story.
- Participate in NaNoWriMo each November
